Can I be a member of more than one team?
Each participant can only be part of one team.

What is the optimal team?
For technical challenges, the optimal team typically includes three IT specialists, one designer, and one manager. It’s best to form interdisciplinary teams with a majority of IT specialists to ensure the most effective performance in a hackathon setting.

What can get a team disqualified?
A team may be disqualified for the following reasons:

● Violating the code of conduct
● Submitting work that includes plagiarized or illegal content
● Breaking the event rules

Evaluation
Who will be on the Jury?
The Jury will include experts from academia, education, the business community, public organizations, and specialists in various fields of knowledge.
Each challenge assignment will be evaluated by a Jury of at least two members.

Who are the experts?
Experts are specialists with specific knowledge related to the challenge assignments, ready to answer the team’s questions and provide guidance.

How are the hackathon winners determined?
The winners will be the teams that score the highest points based on their solution to one of the challenges.

How are the results evaluated?
Each team that has not been disqualified will present its solution to the Jury, and the Jury will assign scores according to the same criteria. Each criterion is rated from 0 to 3, for a maximum of 15 points. Final scoring is based on the average score from all jury members within each challenge.

What are the evaluation criteria?
The final score is determined as the sum of the points given by all experts, as well as the value provided by automated evaluation tools, or as the final Jury score multiplied by the rating from the automated system.
Based on the characteristics described below, the Jury members will assign scores on a four-point scale, ranging from 0 to 3 points.

Evaluation Criteria:
● Innovation and creativity
● Technical execution
● Relevance to the chosen challenge
● Presentation quality
● Potential impact

For participants attending in person: Teams will need to gather at the offline venue near the main stage where the award ceremony will take place. Top-scoring presentations may be selected for on-stage pitching at the venue.

Winners, whether they participated online or in person, must attend the official results announcement.

When will the results be announced? Can I appeal to them?
Final results will be announced no later than 23:59 on June 14, 2025. Appeals may be submitted via an official request to hack@xthon.xyz. Appeals are reviewed within 30 calendar days.

Can I receive feedback from the experts?
Teams will receive feedback from experts during the hackathon checkpoints. Experts will also try to provide feedback after the hackathon is over.

Prizes
What prizes do the winners receive?
Cash prizes and other rewards will be awarded to the winning teams as defined in the challenge brief. In addition to monetary prizes, winners will
also receive official certificates of recognition from the organizers.
Organizers reserve the right to adjust the prize fund and number of winning teams based on the number of active challenges and specific requirements from event partners.

When and how will the winners receive their prizes?
Prizes will be distributed within 60 working days from the date of the result announcement.

The hackathon winners will receive their prizes via bank transfer. The specific method of fund transfer will be determined individually with each winner. The prize money will be distributed equally among the team members and finalized with a signed receipt of payment.

Will I need to pay any taxes after I receive my prize?
Taxes or financial duties are the responsibility of the recipients.

What will the other participants, who did not win, receive?
Experienced specialists will gain new career opportunities by solving real, practical tasks. Beginners and enthusiasts will acquire new knowledge, engage in live communication with industry experts, and become part of a large community of promising IT specialists in the country.
Each participant will receive a certificate of participation in the hackathon in PDF format.

How is the protection of intellectual property for the developments organized?
Participants retain full rights to their solutions. By submitting a project, they grant the organizers a non-exclusive, non-commercial right to display, archive, and promote the work with appropriate credit.

General Questions about the Hackathon
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a time-limited team competition focused on developing digital solution prototypes based on a challenge chosen by the teams to solve.

How will LXthon be conducted?
The hackathon will last for 2 days and will be held in two formats:

● June 13 will be held fully online
● June 14 will be held in a hybrid format (online and in person).

Online Participation
Participants will work on solving a challenge online while interacting with experts throughout the hackathon. The live pitches will take place exclusively online through a special platform via the participant's account on the project website (submission of a detailed presentation of the solution, individual times for checkpoints and pitches, deadlines for uploading all the necessary artifacts, and their submission to the organizers all happen through the personal account on the project website).

Offline Participation for June 14
Interaction with experts during the hackathon, as well as the live pitches of solutions for people who will sign up for offline participation, will take place at the offline venue. However, submission of the detailed challenge presentation, individual times for checkpoints and pitches, deadlines for uploading necessary artifacts, and their submission to the organizers will also be held via the personal account on the project website.

The venue is treated as a festival setting, and participation either offline or online does not affect the outcome or chances of winning.

Teams that confirm their participation on the project platform by the rules are eligible to take part in the hackathon.
After the official opening, participants will work on the assigned challenges for 24-36 hours.
Teams are allowed to present their solutions if they attend at least 2 checkpoints. Detailed rules of the event are outlined in the project regulations.

Who can participate in the hackathon?
The hackathon is open to students, professionals, and enthusiasts aged 18 or older. Participants must register individually or as part of a team and agree to these rules in full.

I'm under 18 but want to participate in the hackathon — is it possible?
Only individuals who are at least 18 years old are eligible to participate in the hackathon. Unfortunately, if a team includes a participant who is under the age of 18, the entire team will be disqualified regardless of the result or place they achieve in the hackathon.

I will turn 18 after the registration starts. Can I participate?
To participate and be eligible for a cash prize, individuals must turn 18 by the start of the hackathon.

What programming languages and technical tools can I use?
Unless specific software restrictions are stated in the challenges provided by the partners, participants are not limited in their choice of programming languages, technologies, and tools for creating prototypes, as long as the solution addresses the problem outlined in the challenge.
You may use generative AI as long as it is disclosed during the presentation.

Is participation free?
Yes, it is free.

I think my knowledge is not enough to participate in the hackathon.
Lack of programming skills is not a problem. The Hackathon primarily provides an opportunity to work in a team and get involved in the IT community. Teams also need designers, project managers, product managers, entrepreneurs, financial and business analysts, marketers, and other specialists to implement the project successfully. The key is to thoroughly describe your experience so that a team can find you.

Can I edit the profile data in my account?
Participants can update their first and last names during registration on the LXthon platform. If you experience any issues, please reach out to our support service via email at hack@xthon.xyz.

What is a challenge?
A challenge is a task — a description of a specific business or social problem in a relevant industry or field, presented for resolution within the framework of the hackathon.

How will the challenges be distributed among the teams?
Only already-formed teams are eligible to choose a challenge. Any member of the team can select a challenge.
Important: the number of teams for each challenge is limited. No later than 5 days before the hackathon starts, the participant’s account will display the challenge’s availability percentage. Once the number of teams for a particular challenge reaches 100%, it will no longer be available for selection. Based on the selection made on the website at the moment the phase ends, each team will be automatically assigned a challenge to work on during the hackathon.

When will the full list of challenge tasks be available for each hackathon?
A shortened list of all challenges will be published on the website l.xthon.eu no later than 7 days before the registration deadline.
Detailed descriptions of the challenges will only be available to participants on the first day of the hackathon.

What does it mean to solve a challenge?
To solve a challenge means to find the optimal solution to the stated problem. We do not limit participants in their choice of technologies or approaches to finding a solution. What matters to us is providing an opportunity for creative initiative and receiving unconventional, often less popular, but possibly the most suitable solutions developed specifically within the framework of the hackathon.

What is a checkpoint?
A checkpoint is a time interval during which the experts will connect with a team participating online in a pre-arranged Discord room. If the team is participating offline, the meeting will take place in a specially prepared room at the event’s offline venue.
The team will present its current progress and receive feedback.

How will the checkpoints be conducted?
During the hackathon, there will be 2 mandatory 10-minute checkpoints. Each checkpoint will include a meeting with two experts. The checkpoint schedule for each team will be available in their accounts. The team must attend at least one checkpoint with the full team present. However, all checkpoints are mandatory for at least one team member to attend.
The detailed hackathon schedule will be published on the website no later than 1 day before the event date.

Can questions about the challenge be asked only during the checkpoints, or throughout the work?
Any questions regarding the challenge are best directed to the experts during the checkpoints.
During the hackathon, if necessary, "Q&A with the challenge owner" sessions will be organized for each challenge individually. Participants will be able to ask clarifying questions in a one-on-one or public format.
Information about these sessions will be provided in advance in the challenge chat. Additionally, between checkpoints, questions can be asked in the challenge chat using special hashtags.

When and how should the team submit its solution?
According to the hackathon schedule, the completed challenge solutions must be uploaded to the personal account on the project website before the deadline.

What needs to be attached:

  1. A link to the repository with the code developed specifically during the hackathon.
  2. A presentation is an attached file.
  3. A teaser for the solution.
  4. A video demonstration of the prototype’s functionality (optional).
  5. Each developed solution must have its own teaser with a detailed description. Please carefully consider the teaser, as it should be concise and clear. To help you craft the teaser, try answering the following questions:
  6. Describe your solution—what does it represent?
  7. What are its technical features?
  8. What makes your solution different from others, and what is its uniqueness?
  9. How does your solution help ordinary users?

It's important to note that the description should be easy to understand for a wide audience, regardless of their background. The teaser should be attached to your account on the project website.

What are the requirements for the developed solution (prototype)?
The prototype created by the participant must not contain:

  1. Pornographic elements or any sexually explicit material;
  2. Content promoting violence, inciting social, racial, national, or religious hatred and hostility, or calling for the overthrow of the constitutional order and the incitement of ethnic strife;
  3. Malicious programs, viruses, spyware, or other similar electronic programs that may harm the information system or violate laws protecting the confidentiality of information.
  4. The prototype is the participant's original work created within the framework of the hackathon and is not a copy of third-party works. It does not infringe on the copyrights and/or related rights of third parties regarding intellectual property. The prototype is free from third-party property rights, not subject to claims, lawsuits, or demands from third parties.
  5. The prototype does not violate Portugal's legislation, does not discredit anyone or anything, does not provide grounds for legal action that could harm the name, reputation, honor, dignity, activities, project, or product of any individual, and does not contradict public interests. If the prototype uses images of individuals, consent from those individuals has been obtained.

How will the project live pitches take place?
Teams will receive the structure and guidelines for presenting their solutions at the start of the hackathon during the challenge presentation.

For online participants:
The life pitch will take place in Discord, and the team will have 5 minutes to defend their project. The schedule for the pitches will be available on the participant's personal account (p.l.xthon.eu), along with a link to the Discord meeting.

Presentation Breakdown:
1 minute — Connection and preparation of the team, checking video and sound.
3 minutes — Presentation of the solution (demonstration of the presentation and prototype).
1 minute — Answers to jury questions.
Important:

Participants must connect to the call 5 minutes before the scheduled time and name themselves as “team name_Full Name”.

During the defense, one team member can present their solution either by speaking with the presentation or by playing a pre-recorded video without sound, while commenting on it live. Supported video formats: mov, avi, mp4.

Can anyone attend the offline venue?
No, only the participants who registered for offline participation are eligible to come to the venue.
If you don’t confirm in-person attendance, a place will not be reserved for you. The number of available spots is limited.
